MINUTES OF THE INAUGURAL MEETING
OF THE SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY COUNCIL OF THE BLIND
SEPTEMBER 4, 2003

The Louisville group that traveled to Bowling Green for this special meeting arrived at the Bowling Green Library at about 6:15 pm. The local Bowling Green group attending this meeting arrived at approximately 6:30 pm.

At around 6:40 pm, Jim Shaw said a few words of introduction and then we ate. After everyone ate, Jim Shaw started the meeting off by having the Louisville people introduce themselves. Then Ron Milliman had the Bowling Green Attendees introduce themselves, after which Jim Shaw and some of the other KCB members discussed the benefits of being a member of the ACB and KCB, and outlined the steps necessary for the Bowling Green group to form an official chapter of the KCB.

Then Jim Shaw initiated the election of officers for the proposed Bowling Green Chapter by presiding over the election of the president. Ron Milliman was nominated by Max Robinson and seconded by Kim Parsley and subsequently elected by unanimous vote, at which time, Ron Milliman presided over the election of the remaining officers. Kimberly Parsley was nominated for Vice President by Palma Milliman and was seconded by Max Robinson. Kimberly was elected unanimously. Max Robinson was nominated for secretary by Lisa Newton and seconded by Michael Parsley. Lori Piorkowski was nominated by Palma Milliman and seconded by Max Robinson. Lori was elected by a vote of 5 to 4. Lisa Newton was nominated for treasurer by Darlene Winkenhofer and seconded by Palma Milliman. Darlene Winkenhofer was nominated by Lisa Newton and seconded by Lori Piorkowski. Lisa was subsequently elected by a vote of 7 to 3. Therefore, the newly elected officers are as follows:

Ron Milliman - President
Kimberly Parsley - Vice President
Lori Piorkowski - Secretary
Lisa Newton - Treasurer
After the elections, a discussion ensued concerning chapter dues, and it was decided that the chapter dues would be initially at $8.00, the same as the KCB dues. Chapter dues were subsequently collected for eleven members. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:40 pm.
