The meeting was started at approximately 7:04 pm at the Bowling Green Library. Members
present were: Ron & Palma Milliman, Max and Sue Robinson and Lisa Newton.
The meeting began with our guest speaker, Mr. Omar Rogers from the Lions Club. He spoke
about the origin/history of the Lions Club, and told us that their main purpose is to
provide assistance of all sorts to blind and sight impaired individuals who cannot
afford it on their own. Following Mr. Roger's presentation, we engaged in a Q & A session,
which was most informative. Mr. Rogers expressed interest in the Lions Club possibly
funding a Talking Newspaper Service based here in Bowling Green. He said he would
discuss the project with other key Lions club members and get back to us on it.
Next, Max and Sue played the Public Service Announcements that they had worked on since
our last meeting and that were based on the initial PSA script written by Lisa Newton.
Everyone agreed that they sounded extremely professional. Ron suggested that we think
about offering this service, e.g. a set of four PSA's for $100 or so, to other affiliates
as a fund raiser for our chapter. He also suggested that we advertise this service on our
web site. Max, Sue and Lisa all agreed to donate their expert talents and copyrights
to us for this purpose. Max and Sue will receive a portion of any funds raised with
this project (E.g. 50%), since they will be the ones actually recording the PSA's,
and the other portion would go to the SCKCB chapter.
Ron also announced that he was successful in acquiring our URL: SCKCB.org toward the
objective of developing our own SCKCB web site. President Milliman also mentioned
that Kim and Mike Parsley were working on our logo, letterheads and business cards.
President Milliman brought up the subject of the TV program, which we are suppose to
tape for airing in August. After some discussion, it was quite evident that we did not
have sufficient information about this project to be able to plan it, and we all agreed
that we need to meet again in April to discuss this further, if we are serious about
this project. Our meeting will be April 8th. Lisa Newton suggested that perhaps we should
consider doing the show "Main Street" with Barbara Deebs instead of trying to
produce it ourselves. Since we all thought that it was an excellent idea, Lisa agreed
to talk to Barbara about it and report back to us.
In lieu of the secretary not being present, Palma Milliman read the minutes of the previous
meeting. The treasurer, Lisa Newton, reported that we have a total of $124.00 in our bank
account less some charges for SCKCB checks that were ordered. A check for $125.00 was presented
to the SCKCB group and given to the treasurer for deposit by President Milliman,
representing the proceeds from a settlement with the NFBK over two web sites that were
sold to NFBK by Dr. Milliman, NFBK's previous Web Master.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Palma Milliman
